On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers, a round table dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was held at the Brest State Technical University.
The speakers at the event were retired lieutenant colonel, veteran of the USSR Armed Forces, chairman of the Brest public association "Valor and Honor" Ivan Nikolaevich Shulga, chairman of the Brest city council of veterans Anna Tarasovna Onishchuk, member of the Brest city council of veterans, mother of her son Valery who died in Afghanistan Lyudmila Mikhailovna Ostrovskaya, retired lieutenant colonel of the KGB of the USSR, military counterintelligence officer Viktor Timofeevich Klyuchevskoy.
Viktor Timofeevich Klyuchevskoy told about his difficult service in Afghanistan for two years, being an employee of military counterintelligence, being in a hard-to-reach mountainous area. It was hard to listen to the story of Lyudmila Mikhailovna Ostrovskaya, who spoke about her son Valery, about his last battle and the feat he accomplished. The guests of the event bequeathed to the students to preserve peace in our country and wished them never to fight in a foreign land.
