The international scientific and practical conference "ATOMIC SOLDIERS" was held on September 13 in the assembly hall of the Brest State Technical University. The conference was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the first atomic bomb test in the USSR and the 70th anniversary of combined arms exercises using an atomic bomb at the Totsk test site.

The event was attended by veterans of nuclear tests and special risk units of Belarus and Russia, military personnel, representatives of public organizations and young people. The Rector of BrSTU Sergey Antonovich Kasperovich delivered a welcoming speech to the conference participants.

The conference participants discussed more than 20 reports on the history of nuclear tests conducted by the Soviet Union, the military-political and historical significance of the Totsk military exercises, as well as issues of ensuring nuclear and radiation safety on the territory of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.

The event was organized by the Brest Regional Public Association "Valor and Honor", the Brest Regional Council of the Public Association "Belarusian Committee of Veterans of Special Risk Units", the Department of General History of the A.S. Pushkin BrSU, the Military Department and the Department of Humanities of the BrSTU.
