From April 22 to 25, the XVIII International Olympiad in Theoretical Mechanics was held at the Belarusian State University of Transport. Students from 20 universities from Belarus, China, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan took part in it. By tradition, the team of our university, consisting of 5 students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, took part in the Olympiad: Mikhail Aleksandrovich Yarmak, Artem Vladimirovich Stupakevich, Alexander Viktorovich Kovalevich, Daria Nikolaevna Nenadik, Ilya Vadimovich Nazaruk, under the leadership of the head of the department of applied mechanics, Andrey Ivanovich Veremeychik.
Participants of the Olympiad in the theoretical competition were asked to solve eight problems of increased complexity in the main sections of “Theoretical Mechanics”. Based on the results of the decisions, the winners in the individual and team competitions were determined. Our university team became the best among Belarusian teams in the team competition, and in the individual competition among Belarusian students, Mikhail Yarmak became the winner.
