Open Dialogue "Road to the Stars" at BrSTU

On April 10, 2025, Brest State Technical University hosted an open dialogue "Road to the Stars" dedicated to Cosmonautics Day.

On April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin made the first flight into space in human history, opening a new era of space exploration. The event was dedicated to this significant event.

The speakers at the meeting were veterans of the Strategic Missile Forces (SMF), retired lieutenant colonels Leonid Ivanovich Kustov, Nikolai Nikolaevich Nikonchuk and Valery Alekseyevich Samosevich. They shared memories of their service in the SMF and work at the legendary Baikonur Cosmodrome, and talked about meetings with outstanding cosmonauts.

The students were particularly impressed by the story that a scientist from our university, long-term First Vice-Rector Vyacheslav Ignatyevich Dragan, participated in the development of the skin for the reusable spacecraft Buran. This connection with the history of the space program became a matter of special pride.

Space remains a mysterious and alluring topic, full of secrets and discoveries. Perhaps among the current students there will be those who will continue the glorious traditions of Belarusian cosmonautics and contribute to the exploration of the Universe.
