The first regional festival of engineering classes was held at Brest State Technical University, which brought together students, teachers and representatives of educational institutions from all over the Brest region.
The festival was organized with the aim of developing a positive image of engineering professions, expanding the network of specialized engineering classes in general secondary education institutions of the Brest region.
The festival was organized by the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Brest State Technical University, and Brest Regional Institute for Education Development.
The festival was opened by the Rector of BrSTU Sergey Antonovich Kasperovich. In his speech, Sergey Antonovich emphasized the importance of engineering education in the modern world and the need to train qualified specialists for various sectors of the economy. "The engineer is not only the present, but also the future," said Sergey Antonovich.
Among the honored guests of the festival were Tatyana Anatolyevna Chanova, Deputy Head of the Department of General Secondary, Specialized and Vocational Education of the Main Education Department of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, and Anatoly Vasilyevich Moshchuk, Director of the Brest Regional Institute for Education Development.
The Engineering Classes Festival was held in 2 stages: the qualifying stage (remote) and the final.
21 teams of 11th-grade students from the Brest region, mastering the optional classes program "In the World of Engineering and Technology: Choosing an Engineering Profession", took part in the qualifying stage. The children had to take part in the competition of video presentations "Why do I want to be an engineer?" and advertising brochures "I am an engineer ...".
Following the results of the qualifying stage, 6 strongest teams made it to the festival final:
- Team "GYMNAZISTY", State Educational Institution "Gymnasium of the City of Beloozersk";
- Team "GENERATOR", State Educational Institution "Molotkovichskaya Secondary School" of Pinsk District
- Team "EVANNI", State Educational Institution "Secondary School No. 4 of Kobrin named after Internationalist Soldiers"
- Team "PROGRESS", State Educational Institution "Secondary School No. 19 of Baranovichi"
- Team "TESLA", State Educational Institution "Secondary School No. 20 of Brest named after Hero of the Soviet Union D. M. Karbyshev
- Team "KILOWATT", State Educational Institution "Secondary School No. 16 of Pinsk"
In the final, the teams competed in the brain ring game on the content of the curriculum "In the World of Engineering and Technology: Choosing an Engineering Profession" and the preparation of presentations on the topic chosen by the jury members, such as "Smart City of the Future", "Eco-City of the Future", "Green" Construction.
The jury, which included the deans of the university faculties and was chaired by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Andrey Nikolaevich Parfievich, assessed the participants' presentations according to several criteria, including content, creativity and visual design.
Based on the results of the competition and the number of points scored, the winning team was the team "EVANNI", State Educational Institution "Secondary School No. 4 of Kobrin named after Internationalist Warriors"
In addition, the festival became a platform for communication and exchange of experience between students from different schools, as well as between students and representatives of higher education institutions.
Holding the first regional festival of engineering classes at BrSTU was an important step towards the development of engineering education in the region.
