Employees and students of the Brest State Technical University, headed by Rector Sergei Antonovich Kasperovich, took part in memorial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Brest from Nazi invaders.
Wreaths and flowers were laid at the Eternal Flame of the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex in gratitude to the generation of victors. The ceremony was attended by regional and city leaders, members of the Belarusian parliament, representatives of diplomatic missions, law enforcement agencies, public organizations, clergy, residents and guests of the city. Those present honored with a minute of silence the memory of those who defended the freedom and independence of the Motherland at the cost of their lives. Paying tribute to their predecessors, the soldiers of the Brest garrison marched in a ceremonial march across the Ceremonial Square of the Brest Fortress.
