On April 12, as part of events dedicated to the celebration of the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Brest State Technical University, a memorable event took place - the naming of one of the lecture halls after V. I. Dragan.
Vyacheslav Ignatievich Dragan devoted his entire life to the university. After graduating from BISI from 1976 to 2018, he went through all the stages from assistant in the Department of Building Structures to Vice-Rector, and worked for 16 out of 42 years as the First Vice-Rector of BrSTU.
V.I. Dragan is a recognized specialist in the field of research of metal structures. At the university, he created a new scientific direction for research into the durability of materials and structures.
Under his leadership, 4 candidate's and 3 master's theses were defended, 156 scientific and methodological works were published. Vyacheslav Ignatievich is the author of 37 patents for inventions and utility models implemented into production.
The ceremony was attended by Vyacheslav Ignatievich’s relatives, his students and colleagues with whom he worked for many years. Many warm words were said to Vyacheslav Ignatievich; he was a brave designer, a talented leader who knew how to take responsibility, a person who earned well-deserved authority and respect from all colleagues.
Naming the lecture hall after Vyacheslav Ignatievich Dragan is evidence of respect for his significant achievements and high professionalism in the field of science and education, significant personal contribution to the development of the potential of the Brest region and the Republic of Belarus, and will also preserve the memory of the outstanding scientist, teacher and head of the Brest State Technical University University.
